Responsibilities

  • Offer expert tax compliance and planning services to a diverse range of clients including corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
  • Manage and meticulously review tax files and engagements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on tax issues and adeptly prepare internal and external memorandums.
  • Act as the liaison with tax authorities during audits and appeals.
  • Lead complex engagements, nurturing high-value business relationships, providing top-tier tax advice, and seeking opportunities to expand client services.
  • Identify client issues, assess risk tolerance, and deliver appropriate firm services.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of clients' industries, business trends, technical developments, and effectively communicate these insights to clients.
  • Skillfully identify and resolve tax issues, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Successfully delegate tasks to staff at all levels.
  • Provide guidance and foster the career development of staff members within the firm.
  • Actively participate in mentoring and nurturing junior-level staff.
  • Flexibility to complete additional ad-hoc assignments as required.

Competencies

  • Canadian Professional Accounting (CPA) designation
  • Preferably 4-5 years' experience in tax advisory, though all experienced individuals are encouraged to apply.
  • Enrolled in, or open to enrolling in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, Microsoft Office, and Tax Prep software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, managers, and partners.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Values teamwork, client/customer service, professionalism, quality in detailed work, community involvement, personal, and professional growth.
